Inspired by the mesmeric wonder of bioluminescence on a moonless night, an evening gown is adorned with 168 ‘sea flower’ petals which have been embroidered with sequins, beads, and tubes; an arrangement informed by biofluorescent anemones. Crafted on a base of slightly transparent gazar, each petal is outlined with a flexible metallic wire covered with navy threads, upon which oblique lines of iridescent beads and curved sequins in lustrous grey, pink, and blue fill have been hand- embroidered; using the Lunéville hook technique, their embroidery took over 600 hours to complete. The anemones are crafted from striped velvet fabric, with 250 hours invested in their intricate embroidery.
